Like most music nerds, Dr. Russell was in the school band growing up. Although he moved ultimately decided to study voice in college, it was the saxophone that originally sparked his passion for music.

Saxophone lessons are an excellent way to start learning how to read music as well, since reading saxophone music is more approachable than piano music, and depending on your personality, it can be less intimidating that singing might be.
